Policies - Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make an appointment?
For appointments at either office please call (407) 354-0717 between 8am and 5pm Monday thru Friday.
If you are having a life –threatening emergency please call 911 immediately.
Who do I call if my child develops problems overnight that I feel can not wait for an appointment the next morning?
Our evening phone calls are handled by the Tele-KidsNurse program at Arnold Palmer Hospital . These nurses are specifically trained to handle pediatric triage phone calls. Please utilize this service for emergencies only. All minor issues and routine refills should wait until office hours.
How do I go about obtaining referrals to specialists?
Because we are a primary care pediatric facility we will usually want to see the child before referring them out to a specialist. Depending on the situation we may even want to occasionally see a child after they have been sent out to a specialist for ongoing care. We are always concerned that your child gets the best care possible by us or anyone we recommend. If your child needs a new referral for ongoing care please contact our referral coordinator at least 3 days before you would like to make the appointment with your specialist.
How do I get a prescription refilled?
In most situations if the medication you have been prescribed has not helped your child get better we will want you to schedule a follow-up visit so our doctors can be sure your child is not developing any other symptoms or conditions. If you are on a routine medication, please call our main number (407) 354-0717 and leave a message for the nurses. Be sure to include the child's name, date of birth, medication name, current dosage instructions and the pharmacy's name and phone number that you would like the medication called in to. It is also a good idea to leave a number we can reach you back at if there are any problems. We handle refill request throughout the day based on priority.
What about ADD and ADHD medications?
Because these medications are a controlled substance we use hand signed prescriptions that must be picked up at our office by a parent or legal guardian. These medications play an important role in the development of your child and therefore we require ongoing evaluations every four months to ensure that the child is being maintained on the right dosage and that we are achieving the desired results.
